Trump orders investigation into Biden aides for alleged health

President Trump ordered an investigation Wednesday into whether former President Joe Biden’s administration used an autopen machine to sign key presidential documents like pardons — months after Mr. Trump claimed his predecessor’s pardons were illegitimate.

In a memo signed Wednesday night, Mr. Trump told Attorney General Pam Bondi and the president’s counsel to probe what he claimed was a “conspiracy” to “abuse the power of Presidential signatures through the use of an autopen to conceal Biden’s cognitive decline.”

The order cited a litany of executive actions by Biden — including pardons and federal judge appointments — and argued “there are serious doubts as to the decision making process and even the degree of Biden’s awareness of these actions being taken in his name.”

It then suggested that if Biden’s advisers “secretly used the mechanical signature pen,” it would “have implications for the legality and validity of numerous executive actions.”

Mr. Trump said the investigation should cover whether Biden’s aides “conspired to deceive the public about Biden’s mental state and unconstitutionally exercise the authorities and responsibilities of the president.” It also directed an investigation into which executive actions an autopen was used for, and who directed its use.

A Biden spokesperson declined to comment on the order.

Presidents have used an autopen — or a signature-signing machine — to sign certain documents for decades, and then-President George W. Bush’s Justice Department said in 2005 that the president can legally use an autopen to sign bills into law. Mr. Trump said in March he has occasionally used an autopen, but “only for very unimportant papers.”

But Mr. Trump and his allies have suggested Biden’s alleged use of an autopen could be illegitimate. In March, the president claimed a slate of pardons issued to some Trump foes in the final days of his administration were “VOID” and “VACANT.”

CBS News legal contributor Jessica Levinson said in March that Mr. Trump cannot revoke his predecessor’s pardons, even if an autopen was involved. “This is not a gray area,” she said on “CBS Mornings Plus.”

Early Wednesday, Mr. Trump on Truth Social called the alleged autopen use “THE BIGGEST POLITICAL SCANDAL IN AMERICAN HISTORY,” aside from the 2020 presidential election, which Mr. Trump has repeatedly claimed — without evidence — was rigged.

Scrutiny over Biden’s mental acuity while in office has ramped up in recent weeks, amid new reporting about the circumstances of Biden’s exit from the 2024 presidential race. Earlier Wednesday, the Republican chair of the House Oversight Committee, Rep. James Comer of Kentucky, pushed several members of Biden’s inner circle to answer questions about the president’s “mental and physical faculties” while serving as the chief executive.

What is an autopen? Here’s what to know about the devices used by presidents, writers and more.

The autopen — a machine first patented centuries ago — is having a moment in the political spotlight, following  allegations made by President Trump that former President Biden used one to sign pardons.

That’s prompting questions about what autopens do, how they work and why the device is now stirring up controversy. The devices use pens or other writing instruments to place a person’s signature on documents, books or other papers, such as in the case of a college president, for example, who would otherwise be required to sign hundreds or thousands of diplomas for graduating students by hand.

Mr. Trump raised the issue in March when he claimed Mr. Biden’s alleged use of an autopen to sign preemptive pardons to members of the House select committee that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the U.S. Capitol rendered them “void” and “vacant.”

Mr. Trump raised the issue again on Wednesday, when he posted on Truth Social, “With the exception of the RIGGED PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OF 2020, THE AUTOPEN IS THE BIGGEST POLITICAL SCANDAL IN AMERICAN HISTORY!!!”

The autopen has also become a focus of the right-leaning Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project, which claims that Mr. Biden’s alleged use of an autopen given his “clear cognitive decline … raises additional questions for investigators.”

Regardless of the allegations, the autopen is hardly a novel device for the political sphere, with the Shapell Manuscript Foundation noting that one of the devices was bought by Thomas Jefferson soon after it was patented in 1803. Throughout U.S. history, presidents have relied on autopens, although the Shapell Manuscript Foundation notes that some commanders-in-chief have been guarded about their use of the machine.

“Whereas once the official White House position was to deny the existence or usage of the autopen, today its existence is more of an open secret,” the foundation notes.

A spokesperson for Mr. Biden didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

What is an autopen?

An autopen, also called a robot pen, is a machine that automates a person’s signature with a pen or other writing instrument, versus a scanned signature, which is a digital image of a signature.

Unlike people, the machine will never get writer’s cramp, and can replicate a person’s signature on high volumes of letters, certificates, diplomas and other documents, according to Automated Signature Technology, an autopen manufacturer.

Its Ghostwriter machine uses a smart card or USB flash drive to store signatures and phrases that can be replicated on paper. The company’s machines “write at human speed … to produce quality handwriting reproductions,” Automated Signature Technology says.

The Ghostwriter can use any type of writing instrument, from a ballpoint pen to crayons, and can write on a variety of materials with different thicknesses, it added.

Another autopen manufacturer, the Autopen Company, said its machines can be used for “signing certificates, correspondence, photographs and posters, almost anything up to 1/4 inch thick. Factory modifications can be incorporated for signing books and sports memorabilia.”

One site that sells autopens says that high-end machines used by governments can cost between $5,000 to $20,000 each.

Neither the Autopen Company nor Automated Signature Technology immediately responded to requests for comment from CBS MoneyWatch.

Have other presidents used autopens?

Yes. President Johnson even allowed the autopen to be photographed in the White House. The photo appeared in The National Enquirer with a 1968 article titled, “The Robot That Sits in for the President,” according to the Shapell Manuscript Foundation.

Other presidents who have relied on autopens include John F. Kennedy and Barack Obama, among others. Presidents have typically used an autopen to sign routine correspondence to constituents, like letters recognizing life milestones, as well as legislation and pardons.

During the Gerald Ford administration, the president and First Lady Betty Ford occasionally signed documents and other correspondence by hand, but White House staff more often used autopen machines to reproduce their signatures on letters and photographs.

Mr. Trump has also used an autopen, telling reporters on Air Force One in March that he’d used the device “only for very unimportant papers.”

“You know, we get thousands and thousands of letters, letters of support for young people, from people that aren’t feeling well, etcetera. But to sign pardons and all of the things that he signed with an autopen is disgraceful,” Mr. Trump said at the time, in reference to his claims former President Biden used the technology to sign pardons.

President George W. Bush asked the Justice Department in 2005 if it was constitutional to use an autopen to sign a bill, with the department concluding that “the president need not personally perform the physical act of affixing his signature to a bill he approves and decides to sign in order for the bill to become law.

House Oversight Chair James Comer expands inquiry into Biden’s fitness while in office

A Republican congressman is broadening an investigation into the extent of former President Joe Biden’s physical and mental decline while in office, seeking testimony from some of Biden’s closest advisers, including his first chief of staff.

GOP Rep. James Comer of Kentucky, chairman of the House Oversight committee, sent letters to five of the former president’s closest aides on Wednesday, requesting they answer questions about Biden’s “mental and physical faculties” while he was leading the country.

The aides include Biden’s former chief of staff, Ron Klain, as well as members of his inner circle — advisers Michael Donilon, Bruce Reed, Steve Richetti, and Anita Dunn.

A spokesperson told CBS News the committee is already in discussions with four other former White House aides — Anthony Bernal, Annie Tomasini, Ashley Williams, and Biden’s physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor — to provide testimony.

Scrutiny of Biden’s health while in office has intensified over recent weeks following the revelation by the 82-year-old that he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer, and a new book that claims officials within the Biden White House worked to hide a “precipitous decline” in his physical and mental health while in office.

Klain, who left the White House in February 2023 and also helped prepare Biden ahead of a disastrous debate performance last June, has pushed back on accusations that he covered up any health issues. In a text message to Politico, he instead attributed Biden’s poor performance to advisers, who had “isolated him from domestic politics.”

In the letters he sent Wednesday, Comer requested the aides appear before the committee for transcribed interviews in the middle of July.

“If White House staff carried out a strategy lasting months or even years to hide the chief executive’s condition–or to perform his duties–Congress may need to consider a legislative response,” the Kentucky Republican wrote.

As chair of the House Oversight committee, Comer oversaw a long-running investigation trying to connect President Biden to the business dealings of his son Hunter. That investigation culminated in an impeachment inquiry that eventually stalled out before coming to a vote.

Exclusive: Watchdog’s Biden Autopen Review Finds ‘Criminal’ Evidence of ‘Impersonating the President’

The head of a pro-American energy watchdog group says his investigation into several of former President Joe Biden’s climate-related executive actions uncovered “criminal” and “evil” evidence that members of the White House acted without presidential authorization while he was in mental decline.

Energy expert Daniel Turner, founder of Power the Future, the nonprofit that released a damning report last week revealing that at least eight major actions taken by President Biden were allegedly signed via autopen, joined the latest episode of Breitbart News Saturday to highlight the gravity of his organization’s findings and of other similar reports.

While Power the Future’s review covered actions related to climate and energy, including the January 6 offshore drilling ban and the March 2023 arctic drilling ban, a March 2025 report from the Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project found that “every document we could find with Biden’s signature over the course of his presidency,” besides the one announcing the end of his reelection campaign, had the same autopen signature.

CNN’s Jake Tapper’s and Alex Thompson’s exposé, Original Sin, has also been dominating the media cycle as it became the first major report out of the mainstream left to accuse White House officials of orchestrating a massive cover-up of Biden’s faltering mental health.

“You know, I get so angry when I have these conversations about this because I deal with the people whose livelihoods were destroyed. It takes a lot of effort to not curse and be profane because what they did to the American people is not just criminal, it’s evil,” Turner told radio show host Matt Boyle. “It’s genuinely morally reprehensible. The damage that we did, that we continue to do, to the American people, all because we’re ‘worried about Donald Trump.’”

Bringing attention to the Biden staffers who would have been the ones to weaponize the autopen, Turner said, “They do have some presidential immunity, but this is criminal, right?”:

When you’re impersonating the president, when you’re impacting the war in Ukraine, because, like I said, when you ban the export of liquid natural gas — what we did was we forced Russia to sell more natural gas to the Turks, to the South Koreans, to other countries who just ignored the ban of Russian fossil fuels. And then the French and the Germans and the Italians just bought it from mediatories, right? So, we impacted wars. People died as a result of this, quite literally. So there is no hiding behind presidential privilege. There is no saying, ‘Well, I was working for the president, and you can’t subpoena me.’ These are really criminal, criminal, allegedly criminal acts that are worthy of investigation. You can’t act in Persona Presidente, right? You can’t commandeer the president’s autopen and put forward policies.

Referring to Original Sin, he continued, “As they said in the book, when they’re willing to do undemocratic things to protect democracy, those people are admitting they’re willing to do undemocratic things to stay in power. And that’s what they did the last four years with the auto pen.”

After Power the Future’s review discovered an utter lack of proof that Biden even knew about several major climate actions, as he never publicly spoke of or acknowledged them, the group sent letters this week to several agencies, including the Department of Justice (DOJ), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of the Interior (DOI), and the Department of Energy (DOE) calling for an investigation.

Letters were also sent to the House and Senate Oversight Committees, Turner told Fox News.

Speaking to Boyle, Turner continued, “Well, when you have an executive order to ban offshore oil and gas drilling … That’s a pretty damn big ban. When you have that and you sign it by autopen, there are process crimes.”

“Someone had to draft that. Someone had to actually put it on paper. Someone had to bring that paper to the autopen machine. That autopen machine is under lock and key. Someone had to open it. Someone had to confirm,” he explained. “And I’m not throwing names under the bus, but I’m just going to use titles. The chief of staff had to know what was going on. The staff secretary — every time Donald Trump signs an executive order, we see the staff secretary hand him that order, explain it, the president signs it. There are personnel involved in processes.”

“These processes, I think, if nothing else, they deserve a good, thorough investigation,” he added.

The letter to House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) states:

In light of the growing evidence that actions purportedly taken by the former president may not have been approved or signed by him, but instead promulgated by a small coterie of advisers in his name without his knowledge or over his signature using an “autopen,” the need for congressional access to information has grown in importance with these revelations.

The letter continues:

Congress deserves to know how or whether these executive actions were authorized, and whether the former president was aware of such orders before they were implemented by the federal bureaucracy. Were these actions taken on behalf of the president and purporting to execute his authority undertaken with the president’s knowledge and approach? It appears incumbent upon Congress to inquire about all parties involved in these actions, who instructed them to do what, when.

Turner also pointed to House Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-LA) claim that the former president apparently did not know that he had signed an executive order pausing the export of liquified natural gas (LNG) in an early 2024 meeting.

“Because if Joe Biden had no idea he banned natural gas … Look, I’m no Biden fan at all in any sense of the word — I loathe the man. But that guy has been in politics for 60 years because he is a savvy politician. A competent Biden would have never banned the sale of natural gas trying to win the state of Pennsylvania,” the Power the Future founder told Boyle. “Even Biden would have been like, ‘We’re not going to ban natural gas. I’m trying to win the damn state of Pennsylvania for the election.’ That’s how bad of a decision it was, and that’s how out of the loop Biden was.”

One cabinet secretary told Tapper and Thompson that the cabinet “didn’t have access” to Biden “for months.”

“There was clearly a deliberate strategy by the White House to have him meet with as few people as necessary,” the unnamed cabinet official told the authors.

Speaking on former Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland, who is currently running for governor of New Mexico, Turner argued that she is “thoroughly disqualified” based on the Biden cabinet’s alleged role in the cover-up of Biden’s worsening cognition:

Because if you were a cabinet member in the Biden White House, and you never interacted with the president in a competent way — especially someone like Deb Haaland, a lot of these executive orders impacted her role as the as the interior secretary — if you were very well aware that the president was not making these decisions, but you didn’t care because you love the green agenda, because they helped your political allies, because friends of yours were profiting off of it … You are disqualified, in my mind, from ever holding office again

Turner went on to lament that Haaland will “probably win” as New Mexico is a blue state.

“She’ll run on race issues, and she’ll make all people feel guilty for being alive, and she’ll probably eke out a win, but she shouldn’t because if she will lie to the American people about the role of the president, then she will do whatever the hell she has to for power, and people like that cannot have power.”

Trump to U.S. Steel Workers: ‘You’re Going to Stay an American Company’

President Donald Trump informed U.S. Steel workers on Friday evening that the iconic American steel company will remain an “American company,” days after he revealed that there was a “planned partnership” between Japan’s Nippon Steel Corporation and the U.S. Steel Corporation.

While speaking in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Trump highlighted how “for generations” U.S. Steel’s name “was synonymous with greatness,” and added that the name will “again by synonymous with greatness.”

“We’re here today to celebrate a blockbuster agreement that will ensure this storied American company STAYS an American company — you’re going to stay an American company, you know that right?” Trump said. “We’re going to have a great partner. And, I have to tell you, Japan has been a tremendous friend of mine during my years as president — and then we had a little hiatus, we had a rigged election.”

Trump continued:

It will keep its headquarters in the great city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where it belongs. For generations, the name, United States Steel was synonymous with greatness, and now it will again be synonymous with greatness. The best, and strongest steel on earth will forever be made in America and made in Pennsylvania.

Trump’s words come a week after he revealed in a post on Truth Social that U.S. Steel will stay in America and will also “keep its Headquarters in the Great City of Pittsburgh.”

In his post, Trump explained that the “planned partnership” between U.S. Steel and Nippon Steel will “create at least 70,000 jobs, and add $14 Billion Dollars to the U.S. Economy.”

“I am proud to announce that, after much consideration and negotiation, US Steel will REMAIN in America, and keep its Headquarters in the Great City of Pittsburgh,” Trump said in his post. “For many years, the name, ‘United States Steel’ was synonymous with Greatness, and now, it will be again. This will be a planned partnership between United States Steel and Nippon Steel, which will create at least 70,000 jobs, and add $14 Billion Dollars to the U.S. Economy.”

As Breitbart News previously reported, in January, former President Joe Biden announced that he would use the Defense Production Act of 1950 to prevent Nippon Steel from being able to acquire U.S. Steel.

Biden’s announcement came after executives from Nippon Steel and U.S. Steel announced in 2023 that the American steel company, “which played a critical role in helping the Allies defeat Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany in World War II,” had been sold to Nippon Steel as part of a “nearly $15 billion deal”:

Early on Monday, executives with U.S. Steel and Nippon Steel Corporation announced the nearly $15 billion deal, which vows to uphold the U.S. Steelworkers’ (USW) labor contract and will be completed mid-2024, though shareholders for U.S. Steel must still give their stamp of approval.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that during Trump’s rally he announced he will be increasing steel tariffs and noted it will “create a fairer trading environment between” the U.S. and other countries.

Watch Live: Biden makes first public remarks since his cancer diagnosis

CBS News Live

CBS News Philadelphia

Live

Former President Joe Biden is speaking on Friday in Delaware — his first public remarks since his office announced he was diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer.

His cancer was categorized as having a Gleason score of 9, which places him in Grade Group 5, the most severe category.

“Cancer touches us all,” Biden, who is 82, said in a tweet earlier this month. “Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”

A spokesperson has said that Biden first learned of his cancer diagnosis in mid-May and that he was never previously diagnosed with prostate cancer. He did not undergo prostate cancer screening during his last medical checkup while in office, which was in February 2024, according to records at the time. His spokesperson said his last known prostate-specific antigen test, which is used to screen for prostate cancer, was in 2014. The screening is not generally recommended for men past the age of 70.

Biden is speaking at a Memorial Day event at Veterans Memorial Park in New Castle, Delaware, which is just south of his hometown of Wilmington. The event is held annually.

Nolte: Sam Harris Admits Media Spin on Biden’s Decline Made Him Distrust His Lying Eyes

Super-expert Sam Harris took an all-new Joe Biden lie out for a spin last week, but the fairytale still ends with the super-expert claiming he was fooled — you know, when Normal People were not.

Harris, self-appointed expert, makes the following argument:

There is a separation between the two parts of the job, the decision-making component of the job and the communication-slash-persuasion component of the job. Yes, the decision-making component of the job is important…  And as I said some years before, when we were all talking about Biden being compromised, it’s at least intelligible to say ‘he is not a good communicator, he was never a good communicator, he’s only getting worse. You can’t reliably stick him in front of a microphone and trust that something good is going to come out of his mouth. But the truth is that when you sit with him and deliberate the war in Ukraine, or anything else, he is compos mentis, he clearly understands the issue as well as he ever did. He’s just not a fluid speaker, and he’s less and less fluid by the hour.’ Neurologically speaking, that is an intelligible claim to make about a person. That’s what I assumed was true. But because of how effective this cover-up was, I no longer believe that… It’s quite possible he was checked out to a degree that I did not suspect at the time.

How many kicks at the cat do our Betters get? Trump can’t beat Hillary. Trump colluded with Russia. COVID did not escape from a lab. Masks work. Six feet of separation works. New York will be underwater by 2010. Diversity is our strength. Demographics are destiny for the Democrat Party. Fox News viewers will die off.

When do we stop treating people who get everything wrong as experts?

For the record, I don’t believe Harris. I think he’s lying with this new angle — Oh, yeah, we all saw Biden’s brain was mush, but it was perfectly reasonable to believe that behind the scenes, he was holding forth on all the dynamic issues of the day with a sharp mind and an English accent.

Nevertheless, Mister Expert, Mister Big Thinks, Mister Smarter-Than-Thou, is still left with — You mean I was wrong, George? You mean, Biden’s brain was mush, George? You mean, I was fooled, George? You mean, the average housewife in Oklahoma knew what was really happening and I didn’t, George? Can we see the rabbits now, George? Can we, huh, George?

And then, to prove that he is not only dishonest and stupid, Harris goes on to prove he does not believe in democracy with this line of fascist thought (starts at the 12-minute mark):

To close the loop on this whole scandal, even [a mentally incapacitated Biden] is preferable to me, and, I think, to many Democrats, than having someone [Trump] who we consider to be genuinely evil … in the office of the presidency. I would rather have a president in a coma, where the duties of the presidency are executed by a committee of just normal people. That’s the choice that many of us believe was before us, so therefore, not much materially changes once you reveal just how insane and despicable this cover-up of Biden’s infirmities actually was.

Yes, Harris is openly admitting that he would prefer a non-elected committee to run the country over a man who won a free and fair democratic election on every level, including the electoral college and the popular vote.

Further, Harris admits that when given a choice between a legally elected Trump running the country, and his unelected committee, “That’s the choice that many of us believe was before us.”

And who did they choose? They chose the anti-democratic, unelected committee that was not made up of normal people, but was made up of Hunter Biden, Jill Biden, and the radical leftists who gave the Taliban hundreds of billions of dollars in operational American weaponry, opened the border to the unvetted third world, and tried to bankrupt and imprison Trump while attempting to remove him from the ballot.

And let’s not forget that Biden and his family got filthy rich off a man who never made more than a few hundred thousand dollars a year as a U.S. senator, vice president, or president. Meanwhile, Trump has lost money pursuing public service.

So let’s sum Sam Harris up, shall we…? He claims he got the biggest presidential scandal in 50 years wrong (when everyday people got it right). He then admits he is anti-democracy.

Oh, and here is Sam Harris previously revealing in 2022 how morally corrupt he is as he argues that 1) he hates Trump so much, he wouldn’t care if “Hunter Biden literally … had the corpses of children in his basement,” and 2) that the “left-wing conspiracy” to “shut down the New York Post’s Twitter account” was “warranted” to “deny the presidency to Donald Trump” in 2020. His own words:

Hunter Biden literally could have had the corpses of children in his basement, I would not have cared. There’s nothing, it’s Hunter Biden, it’s not Joe Biden. Whatever the scope of Joe Biden’s corruption is…it is infinitesimal compared to the corruption we know Trump is involved in. It’s like a firefly to the sun.

It doesn’t even stack up to Trump University. Trump University, as a story, is worse than anything that could be in Hunter Biden’s laptop, in my view. Now that doesn’t answer the people who say ‘it’s still completely unfair to not have looked at the laptop in a timely way and to have shut down the New York Post’s Twitter account. Like that, that’s a left-wing conspiracy to deny the presidency to Donald Trump.’ Absolutely it was. But I think it was warranted.

Sam Harris has no ethics. No morals. No belief in democracy. And believes the widespread, institutional lying about Hunter Biden’s laptop was a good thing because that lie stopped Trump.

There is nothing Sam Harris will not say or do to further his agenda. He is unburdened by conscience or truth. He is today’s corporate media and Democrat party rolled into one smug, entitled twerp.

And you gotta love that the only place people like Sam Harris and Jake Tapper can retreat to is the claim they were too dumb to see what was obvious to everyone.

Former Biden Aide Says Staff Felt Justified Doing ‘Undemocratic Things’

A former aide to President Joe Biden said White House staff felt justified doing “undemocratic things” in order to stop the “existential threat” that was Donald Trump.

Axios reporter Alex Thompson revealed on Fox News Sunday with Shannon Bream that White House insiders revealed to him they often viewed themselves as the decision makers in the Biden administration and were shielded from the president’s oversight.

“If you believe — and I think a lot of these people do sincerely believe — that Donald Trump was and is an existential threat to democracy, you can rationalize anything, including sometimes doing undemocratic things,” Thompson said.

Another aide also reportedly told Thompson that former President Biden “just had to win, and then he could disappear for four years.”

“He’d only have to show proof of life every once in a while,” Thompson said the aide told him. “His aides could pick up the slack.”

“When you’re voting for president, you’re voting for the aides around him,” the aide said.

President Biden was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer this month.

“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms,” his office said in a statement to CNN and CBS.

“On Friday he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone,” his office added. “While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management. The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians.”

Carville: Dems Attempted to Hide Effects of Biden’s Age

Democratic strategist James Carville acknowledged Thursday on Fox News Channel’s “The Will Cain Show” that the Democrats “tried to hide the effects” of then-President Joe Biden’s age.

Carville said, “I didn’t see anything behind the scene. I could tell, I’m 80 years old. I know, unlike most people, I know what the job entails. This is not a job for 80-year-olds. And, by the way, this president is going to be 81 when he finishes this term. So I — yeah, I thought from day one, 80 percent of the people in the United States thought he was too old to run for reelection. I mean, I’m the only one. You can’t be that smart if you have four-fifths of the country. You’re following the masses. But yes, he was too old. And yes, they tried to — they tried to hide the effects of age from people. That’s utterly apparent to any fool.”

He added, “And I was saying this since 2022, alright. I think it was a big mistake for him to say he was running for reelection. And I’ve said it at the time, and I will say it now, and I will say it a thousand times. And I think that Jake, in that book, I mean, it was a good book but to me it was a water is wet book. Like I said, 80 percent of the country. I’ll never forget that in May of 2023, to be exact, I saw a Washington Post/ABC poll, and I went. This is the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life. It had never changed. And I did everything I possibly knew to say, ma’am, please don’t do this. This is, this is just a terrible idea.”
