Foodtech major Zomato’s ‘Book Now, Sell Anytime’ feature has gone live on its app, which will now allow users to buy event tickets in advance and re-sell it on the app itself in case of any last-minute changes.
Starting today, users can book a ticket to the annual Zomato Feeding India Concert on the Zomato app, which will be headlined by American music artist Dua Lipa on November 30 in Mumbai.
If a user is unable to attend the event, they can list their ticket on the Zomato app for sale at the original price, the company said in an Instagram post.
If the ticket remains unsold by the November 16 deadline set by the company, it will automatically return to the users’ account.
Inc42 reported earlier that Zomato has capped the purchase limit to 10 tickets per customer.
“If all tickets from a single order are listed and successfully sold, the full amount, including the handling and convenience fees, will be credited to your account within 7 working days,” the post read.
The listed tickets that have been purchased by another user cannot be listed again.
The ticket reselling feature comes in the run up to the launch of Zomato’s District app. Earlier this year, the foodtech major acquired the movie and events ticketing business of Paytm for INR 2,048 Cr in an all-cash deal.
The foodtech giant’s going out business scaled up rapidly in the September quarter of the financial year 2024-25 (Q2 FY25) following the acquisition of Paytm Insider.
The gross order value of the vertical jumped 171% year-on-year and 46% quarter-on-quarter to INR 1,849 Cr in Q2 FY25. The going out arm had recorded a GOV of INR 1,268 Cr in Q1 FY25 and INR 682 Cr in Q2 FY24.
Zomato’s going-out arm reported a strong 214% revenue growth, which surged to INR 154 Cr in Q2 FY25 from INR 49 Cr in Q2 FY24.
Deepinder Goyal, founder and CEO of Zomato, said last month that the District app will likely be live in the next four weeks.
