Zero-commission food delivery platform WAAYU, which joined the government-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) a few weeks back, has now launched its food delivery services in Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

The startup aims to collaborate with more than 3,000 restaurants with the launch in Hyderabad to scale their orders and serve consumers without extra charges. 

The app went live in the twin cities on Wednesday (November 6) during its event which was attended by nearly 500 restaurant owners, Waayu said in its statement. 

Besides this, WAAYU is working with buyers apps on TATA Neu and OLA with the aim to generate higher order volumes, it added. The startup also mentioned that it will work closely with Paytm and logistics SaaS startup Pidge. 

Founded by Anirudha Kotgire and Mandar Lande last year, the startup offers cost-effective food delivery to the consumers and restaurants while tapping AI.

“WAAYU App is eager to be of service to the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Considering the rich culinary culture of the geography, it is obvious to see a rapidly growing restaurant sector here,” said Lande. 

He further lauded support from Telangana State Hotels Association for extending “deep industry and geography expertise to further enhance the expansion in the state capital.”

WAAYU’s collaboration with ONDC and Telangana State Hotels Association validates the need to challenge the hefty commissions and platform fees on other quick ecommerce platforms, it said in the statement.  

The Pune-based startup claims to have a network of 3,000 restaurants across Mumbai, Pune, Jaipur, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The food delivery app is also in talks with buyer apps, TATA Neu and OLA to boost the number of orders for the restaurant partners.

In September, actor Suniel Shetty-backed startup joined ONDC as a seller marketplace. The move was aimed at bolstering restaurants and consumers’ access to the food delivery ecosystem.
