#1 NATIONAL BESTSELLER NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER OPRAH’S BOOK CLUB PICK Born to an American myth and raised in the wilds of Graceland, Lisa Marie Presley tells her whole story for the first time in this raw, riveting, one-of-a-kind memoir faithfully completed by her daughter, Riley Keough.

A PEOPLE BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR

In 2022, Lisa Marie Presley asked her daughter to help finally finish her long-gestating memoir.

A month later, Lisa Marie was dead, and the world would never know her story in her own words, never know the passionate, joyful, caring, and complicated woman that Riley loved and now grieved.

Riley got the tapes that her mother had recorded for the book, lay in her bed, and listened as Lisa Marie told story after story about smashing golf carts together in the yards of Graceland, about the unconditional love she felt from her father, about being upstairs, just the two of them. About getting dragged screaming out of the bathroom as she ran toward his body on the floor. About living in Los Angeles with her mother, getting sent to school after school, always kicked out, always in trouble. About her singular, lifelong relationship with Danny Keough, about being married to Michael Jackson, what they had in common. About motherhood. About deep addiction. About ever-present grief. Riley knew she had to fulfill her mother’s wish to reveal these memories, incandescent and painful, to the world.

To make her mother known.

This extraordinary book is written in both Lisa Marie’s and Riley’s voices, a mother and daughter communicating—from this world to the one beyond—as they try to heal each other. Profoundly moving and deeply revealing, From Here to the Great Unknown is a book like no other—the last words of the only child of an American icon.

It confirmed a lot of questions that I didn’t understand until now
Love this book. Lisa Marie tells it like it is, it’s funny and it’s raw and also very sad at times. I love how her daughter has her input too. Very close knit family. I’m not an avid reader but this books was a breeze to read, but I had to put the book down, cuz sometimes it was too sad for me to continue reading! I Love LMFP and her honesty! I’m a tell-it-like-it-is kind of person too. That’s why I am so drawn to her. Someone who doesn’t sugar coat anything and I believe is trustworthy. I also Love Her children & I think Danny should also get a lot of credit as well. He was always there for her till the end. I’m going to read it again. I waited for this book since Lisa said it was in the works.

This sure was a tragic book. Sad and.moving
As an avid Elvis fan, I thoroughly enjoyed this insightful memoir. The author, Riley Enough, did an excellent job of providing a compelling and well-written account of her childhood with Lisa Marie While the subject matter includes some tragic elements, the memoir is highly recommended for anyone interested in learning more about these iconic figures.

    Intriguing and Too short
There are no “angels” in this book.Lisa’s life, like all people – is filled with her & others around her doing some bad, good & morally questionable things. So, if you’re a unrealistic super fan ofElvis, Lisa or MJ I have no idea how to explain my reaction to the content of this bookto you. Except that I can’t help but feel the deepest empathy & a kind of love towardsall three of these people who lived extraordinarily different lives from really mostpeople in history if you think about it.Also if you could go back in time & talk to each of them (EP, LP & MJ) as children and asked them what they want to be when they grow up;I know that exactly ZERO would answer, “An irresponsible drug addict.”Reading this book was just another terrifying example of just how much parenting & childhood events shape peoples whole lives.Anyway…PROS:Uniquely done with both Lisa and her daughter telling the story.Gritty, Humorous, GenuineAll the things a person looks for in memoir. Whether you’re a fan or just kind of curious it’s worth a read or listen.Riley & Julia do a beautiful job on the audiobook.CONS:If subjects like assault, addiction and death are too much for you – don’t read this.SHORTWhile I learned a lot of things I didn’t know before it does kind of feel like a filled inhighlight reel.ASSUMPTIONSIt seems to assume that you’ve read/watched interviews that Lisa has given.EXAMPLE & MINOR SPOILERSLisa has previously talked about how her marriage to Danny was always strained because he – a struggling musician- was always resentful of her fame & the fact that she had so much more money than him.In the book it doesn’t touch on it that much but, it is brought up when she & MJ are starting to get close. If I hadn’t read those interviews I would’ve thought that she just threw away Danny out of nowhere to hook up with Michael.SCIENTOLOGYHer unhappy break up with Scientology is not really mentioned at all.POSSIBLE CONS ?If you hate cursing this book is filled with it.The audiobook does have Lisa’s voice but most of her words are said by Julia Roberts and as good as a job that Julia did I was disappointed to not hear Lisa narrate her parts.FINAL THOUGHTSA riveting read that feels too short. The * Spoilers*around 6 year on and off again relationship with MJ alone could’ve been a book it’s self.*It feels like a lot was left out for legal reasons – Lockwood & Scientology. It could have easily been 100 pages longer without feeling like it was dragging.Note: Lisa asked for help with this book because she didn’t know what it should contain. And Riley probably wanted to finish this book before it turned into a’I’ll do it later’ project that’s placed on a to-do-list for years. So, I understand it’s shortness & missing info even though I don’t like it.It was probably the best Riley could do with what she had.*I doubt you’re reading this but I’ve been a fan of your mother for many years and though I’ve never met her, I believe she would be so proud of you for finishing her book. She clearly loved her babies so much.

    Heartbreaking and beautiful
Written in alternating dialogues, Lisa Marie’s section taken directly from her audiotapes, and Riley filling in with her own knowledge and observations, this book feels like an intimate conversation where both Lisa and Riley are at their most vulnerable.Lisa is open about the trauma of losing her father (“I was becoming numb to everything…”), the feeling that her mother never wanted her (“My mother told me that she’d thought about trying to fall off her horse to cause a miscarriage.”), and her general insecurity; Riley states: “She wasn’t sure what her value to the public was other than being Elvis’s daughter.”Lisa opens up about her drug use as a teenager, and then again later in life, her general distrust of people, as well as her marriages and music career, and how motherhood gave her life meaning (“I fell in love with being a mom…being a mom was everything to me.”). Riley reminisced on happier times where the family “felt very normal.” Holidays, vacations, going on tour for Lisa’s albums, Riley describes a “magical” childhood for both herself and her brother, Ben. Riley talks about the bond between Lisa and her son, Ben (“I had an instinct that Ben was the love of my mom’s life…they shared a very deep soul bond.”). The chapters about Ben’s suicide and Lisa’s subsequent death are brutal. I was left with a feeling of heartbreak and admiration for Riley and her younger sisters.Throughout the book, Riley is the calm within the storm. Nonjudgmental, observant, she fills in the parts where Lisa didn’t reach, not feeling like an intrusion, but a necessary presence. This book is a heart-wrenching, beautiful read. Hearing both Lisa and Riley’s raw, human voices in these pages will stay with me.

An Inner Circle Family Member Tells the True Presley Family Story
STOP READING REVIEWS AND BUY THE BOOK! IT’S THAT GOOD. I GUARANTEE IT. Written by Lisa Marie but finished in chapters by her daughter Riley which makes this incredibly touching. What sets this book apart is it is the most honest autobiography I have ever read! She does not hide from the warts in her life. And when she can’t finish the story, Riley is just as forthright. It’s sad. It’s enlightening. A little girl whose Father has died from which she never recovers growing up with money in “Fast Town LA”, not interested in school and living a fast life. Want to know her Michael Jackson interaction? All here and sounds incredibly believable.Just STOP. Buy the book. Learn everything from a great source about her life with Elvis, Priscilla, Priscilla’s boyfriends, Michael Jackson, her own interesting family which she loved deeply, and finally, what drugs can do to you. I’ve actually met her and Priscilla years ago in Memphis and found them both to be quite quiet. Surprisingly, Priscilla is quite a good speaker at events.

Loved this book. So well done and so much insight into her life.

It’s a great book! Unfortunately, her grief after her dad’s death marked her struggles until her own death.

Si a casi 50 años de su muerte Elvis sigue impactando la vida de millones de personas, devastador imaginar como impacto su perdida en la vida de su unica hija. “I felt my father could change the weather”… Son las primeras palabras de LM en este desgarrador relato. Compré el libro en físico, porque es uno de esos ejemplares que vale la pena tener, y lo leí junto con el audiolibro en el que Julia Roberts hace una soberbia lectura junto con Riley.

I genuinely wish she wrote more in her own words. I felt like so much of her life was missed out, but I love Rileys POV as well. I wish it included her experiences with music & Scientology. It’s amazing tho..finished in a day

Jag har inte hunnit läsa boken ännu. Alla andra böcker jag läst om The Presleys har varit bra, så jag förmodar att denna också är 👍
