Customers say
Customers find these work pants durable and comfortable. They appreciate the reinforced knees that don’t tear easily, the canvas material, and the good value for money. The pockets are spacious and convenient, with a double knee pocket for knee pads. Many customers like the style and double knee pockets. However, some dislike shrinkage and have differing opinions on how well the pants fit.

Tons of compliments
The first time I wore these pants, this fascinating, stylish old lady approached me in a cafe and gave me a ton of life advice. I continue to get compliments on these all the time. Highly recommend. The fit was a little tight at first, and the pockets are a little tight, so maybe get a size too large.

Dickies makes solid work/painter pants
I’ve been wearing the standard non-double knee Dickies for a few years now. They’re a little stiff (especially at first), but as you wear them they break in OK. They’re less expensive than most other brands of work pants, and for painting they’re perfect. Tough enough to last me a couple of years on average, and won’t break the bank. The thing you need to be aware of when you buy these is that they shrink in the wash. All the time. I’m typically a 30″ waist, sometimes 29 (depending on the brand), but never anything above 30. I learned the hard way with my first pair. I now buy 32″ waist, and it’s all good. Wash and dry as many times as I need to. they always fit perfectly with the extra 2″ waist. I don’t care much about leg length, just as long as they don’t turn into floods! And they don’t. They hem stays at the top of my foot when I stand. That’s fine for me. I don’t want my work pants hanging down to my heels. This is my first pair of double knee pants though. I liked the idea and decided to give them a try. Love em! And since the actual pads that are designed to go in these pants are kinda pricey, I decided to take a chance on a small yoga knee pad. Bought it here off of Amazon for $10. Wide enough to cut into 4 even knee pads, and long enough to sit properly in the pocket. It’s also thick enough to be able to curl up and slip into the pocket with no problem. I can also remove it easily at the end of the day. That was my other concern. So many reviews saying it was difficult to remove, so they left them in and washed the pants with the pads in. I’m not sure how that will work out long term. I could be wrong, but I think that after constantly washing and drying the pants WITH the pads inside will eventually break down the pad material. Then you’ll potentially have foam particles all over your laundry. And I don’t want that headache. Here’s the link to the pad I ordered (REEHUT Yoga Knee Pad): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y4KXZQL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I give these a big thumbs up. Love not having to strap on knee pads anymore!

Best painter pants around
Only pants I buy for work. They cost a little more but the double knee makes them last a lot longer. They also seem to be made of heavier material.

Didn’t need to order up a size
I am the height and weight of the “average” American male. However, I am female with the hourglass shape that generally goes along with that gender. Think Marilyn Monroe and you get the idea of my figure. I often wear men’s jeans because women’s pants, even talls, seldom fit me properly. When choosing men’s pants, I have to buy a size that accommodates my birthin’ hips which typically means the pants are too large in the waist. After reading the numerous reviews complaining about shrinkage, I feared that the size I normally wear in men’s pants would shrink too much to fit me around the hips. So, as many suggested, I ordered up a size. When the pants arrived they were HUGE on me. I washed them in hot water and ran them through the dryer. They definitely shrunk a bit after washing and drying. They shrunk enough that I am now able to wear them but they are too big. I find myself pulling them up constantly as they slip down until the waist finds a location on my hips wide enough to stop them. This may not be as much of an issue for someone with the straight up and down figure typical of males. In the future, I will order my normal, men’s pants size. Since I never wear my pants skin-tight, the bit of shrinkage that will occur will not be a problem for me. Meanwhile, a couple of darts in the waist will probably help my current pair to fit more comfortably. Additionally, I LOVE the pockets for knee pads. I ordered the pads recommended by Dickies. They fit perfectly and hit in just the right spot for when I kneel. I had surgery on one of my legs which makes it impossible for me to use knee pads that strap around my legs. The knee pad pocket is a perfect solution for me. I’ve had no problem inserting the knee pads nor removing them for washing.

Knee pad slots not in the right spot!!
nice pants, good canvas material. Good pockets… so far so good. They are not designed optimally in my opinion. Number one con is that the knee pad slots are designed to be too low! The knee pad never hits on the floor right. NEVER! So beware of this when you buy. I saw this exact complaint mentioned in another review. If they fix that issue, I would give it 4 stars. I do have to say that I have worn just about every painter pant out there and by far the best painter pant out there is Armed Workwear, but I recently heard they went out of business. Their website is down and they do not answer their phones. That sucks… so I tried Dickies again. Dickies are ok, but if you really want to cater to professional painters Dickies… take a look at the design of Armed Workwear pants. That is the ultimate painter pant. I will continue to search for an adequate replacement, but in the meantime, these do the job they were meant for, so I can’t complain too much. Cheers!
