Moving away from plastics
We are pleased with the quality and size of the product on our goal to reduce and eliminate our plastic food storage, cooking utensils and lunch containers . My husband has not complained about the reheating results and the cleaning is easy. I would recommend this product. No leaks, sleek appearance and sized well for a good lunch.

Perfect Salad Bowl
Good quality, perfect size for my lunch salads. The lid is great! I haven’t tried it in the microwave so can’t answer to that.

Great bowl that really is microwavable. Lid completely seals too.
This is a great bowl. If you’re looking for an unbreakable bowl; that is microwavable, this is it. The lid completely seals, I filled the bowl 3/4 full with water, put the lid on with the vent closed and turn the bowl upside down. Not a drop came out. The lid is fairly secure but does not latch on. I did run a test in the microwave. I placed 2 cups of water in this bowl, 2 cups in a corningware bowl which was very close in size and shape and lastly 2 cups in a Pyrex measuring cup. Microwaved each alone for 3 1/2 minutes. This bowl came out at 145°, while the other two both came out at 175°. The only caution is this bowl is just the metal, so the bowl itself gets as hot as the contents. Need a bowl for a construction worker’s lunch, this is it.

By far the best meal prep containers you can easily get in the US, but with some caveats
I’m genuinely shocked that there aren’t more reviews for such a well-designed and useful meal prep container â this thing is the real deal. I haven’t tested the microwavability (although I’ve read up on the tech and it makes sense to me, it still feels like a crazy thing to try to do with stainless steel – maybe one day), but these things are virtually indestructible (unlike even the best glass or plastic containers), and yet can still go straight from the freezer to the oven up to 428 F (220 C) according to their support, which is perfect for my needs.If you’re looking to get away from plastic for leftovers or meal prep, but want something that isn’t prone to chipping or breaking (unlike glass), or randomly exploding (tempered glass), then stainless steel is the way to go. I bought these at the same time as a bunch of comparable stainless steel meal prep containers from Bentgo (essentially the only other company you can get “microwavable” oven-safe containers from in the US without relying on sketchy 3rd party sellers or importers) to compare, and by a landslide the Black + Blum containers came out on top.Pros:1. Build quality is pretty good – the stainless steel feels great and has good fit and finish, and the lids are sturdy and well-built2. Lids are really easy to remove (as long as you unlock the valve in the lid) – you just need to hold down on the exposed metal lip of the container below, while pulling the lid off, and it doesn’t take too much force to do. I find these lids much easier to remove than most comparable airtight food containers (unlike the Rubbermaid Brilliance, for instance). They’re also not too hard to put back on, other than the 1 con below.3. Containers stack pretty well when filled with food4. They come with a 2 year warranty!5. The lids are well and truly leakproof, unlike their competitionCons:1. It’s a bit annoying to have to remove the silicone seal from the lid for cleaning, and you do need to remove it to be able to clean the lid. I would’ve preferred a design like the Rubbermaid Brilliance where the seal is attached to the lid but still easy to clean. The lid in general has a good number of nooks and crannies (thanks to the vacuum seal) that make it trickier to clean than I’m used to.2. Because the base of the container is so rounded, it can wobble around and tip over a lot when you put the lid on if you don’t hold it down in the right way.3. Also because the base of the container is so rounded, the containers can jiggle and wobble when stacked on top of each other. It doesn’t seem like enough to make the stack unstable, but it is enough to be weird and annoying.4. I really wish the lip was bigger (like the Bentgo Heat & Serve containers) â it would make it so much easier to take the lids off. It’s still not too difficult even with the narrow lip on this container, but it could’ve been made so much easier.Considerations:1. I’m not sure how well the plastic lids handle heat since I haven’t dared to try microwave the containers yet.2. I don’t know if these are still the best oven-safe stainless steel food storage on the market in countries outside the US â from my research, you’re much more spoiled for choice on this front in parts of Europe and Asia.

Very nice!
This was an impulsive buy for me but I am glad I have this container. I use it as my lunch box and I love it! It is easy to clean, Iâve only hand washed it. It is easy to use from refrigerator to microwave. The size is perfect for me use as a lunch box.

First stainless steel food container that is MICROWAVABLE
I don’t like bringing food that needs to be microwaved in a plastic container, so I am left with using only glass. While this is not the end of the world, it does increase the risk of breakage and adds to the heaviness of my backpack/totes as I work anywhere from an 8 to 12 hour shift. I bring all my food from home so I carry a lot of containers and bottles. When I found this product, I purchased the medium (900mL) container. I have not had any trouble with leakage so far or difficulty getting the lid off. I lift the entire lid off and leave a small crack to prevent food explosion in the microwave which has worked well. I am please with Black & Blum microwavable containers and plan to purchase more in the future.

there is a better alternative: round, and double-walled
It works nicely until the red plastic lid vent, which pivots on two tiny plastic projections, breaks. Then the vent doesn’t stay on, and the lid falls off because being airtight inside was what held it on in the first place. Even keeping the lid on with a rubber band around the whole thing won’t work because there’s a hole that the red vent cover keeps closed, so when that’s gone, you have a lunchbox with a small hole in the top so things can leak.Also from experience, I found bowl-shaped microwave steel containers that are double-walled so you don’t burn your hand, and those are much better regardless of how long their lids last.The rectangular shape (rather than round like a bowl) makes it heat unevenly in the microwave, and the single-layer steel conducts heat so you burn your hand removing it unless you use a pot holder. A pair of potholders, because there’s no lip so you have to use both hands.I would recommend to anyone else, skip the rectangular microwave steel if you can get circular instead, and also look for double walled or with some kind of handle so you don’t burn yourself.

Excellent, high Quality and SAFE materialsHas a unique design of locking lid which is absolutely sealed very well (turned ;liquid upside down, not even a drip!)High quality and specified as SAFE metal and seal material.Keeps for very cold for considerably longer than ‘a plastic box'(personally would not use in a microwave, as with other ‘takes too long’ comments)SUMMARY:Great as keeping food COLD for much longer and LEAK PROOF.WOULD highly recommend.

I simply love this product from black and Blum. Microwave friendly, no fuss like glass containers breaking and easy to clean in a dishwasher. Itâs everything that I was looking for in my lunch box. Love it!!

Would definitely recommend this, had loads of compliments at work and can use it in the microwave. Non staining like other containers. Would not go back to plastic.
