This is The Family Watch List. The weekend is here, which means a fresh batch of movie and TV titles are in the queue. Whether you’re piling into the car on your way to the theater or piling onto the couch with your own snacks, there’s plenty to watch as a family.
Here’s a quick look at some fresh recommendations for the weekend of March 14.
‘The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie’
Ketchup Entertainment
- Released: In theaters March 14
- Rating: PG (Kids & Family/Comedy/Sci-Fi/Adventure/Animation)
For those who’ve been waiting for a buddy-comedy featuring a couple of nostalgic characters and no-holds-barred animation, this one should be a treat.
In this first ever fully-animated feature-length Looney Tunes film, Porky and Daffy are the hope Earth never knew it needed when they stumble upon a secret alien invasion plot. Against all cosmic odds, the two must band together to save the world–and while they’re at it, maybe their sanity.
‘Invincible’ Season 3 Finale
Prime Video
- Released: March 13 on Prime Video
- Rating: TV-MA (Mature audiences/Action/Adventure/Animation)
While not for the young kids at home, this superhero series on Prime Video has flown to the top of a lot of must-watch lists. This adaptation of the graphic novel tells the story of 17-year-old Mark Grayson, who would be just like every other teen if it weren’t for the superpowers he inherited from his dad.
Much happens between season one and the end of season three–but needless to say it’s definitely keeping fans wanting more.
‘House of David’ Episode 5
Prime Video
- Released: March 13 on Prime Video
- Rating: TV-14 (Families with teens/Action/Adventure/Historical Drama)
Another Prime Video title that’s gaining steam, this artistic interpretation of the biblical story of David is a good option for families interested in some faith-based drama.
After the fall of Saul, the once-mighty King of Israel, the prophet Samuel is directed by God to anoint teen outcast David as the new king. You don’t have to be totally familiar with the story to guess David’s ascent might not go as smoothly as he’d like.
‘Win or Lose’ Episode 8
Pixar
- Released: March 12 on Disney+
- Rating: TV-PG (Kids & Family/Comedy/Animation)
As we talked about in our review of the series, Win or Lose is a straight up winner! Pixar’s first animated series tells the story of a softball team prepping for the all-important championship game. We get to see things play out from different perspectives across eight episodes–the final one of this limited series dropped on March 12.
If you played youth sports or have a kid in youth sports, the entire family should be on deck to devour this whole season.
