Multiple Mercedes-Benz models recalled again for fire risk

Mercedes-Benz Australia is recalling 37 vehicles across six model lines, including five Mercedes-AMG variants, to fix an issue that could lead to a vehicle fire, but which wasn’t resolved correctly in a previous recall.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, vehicle management systems connected to the fuse box may fail,” the company says in its recall notice.

“If this occurs, it may lead to a sudden loss of motive power and/or a vehicle fire.

“Certain vehicles that previously had this recall rectification carried out may have been fitted with the incorrect replacement part.”

“A sudden loss of motive power whilst driving and/or a vehicle fire could increase the potential risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users, bystanders and/or damage to property,” the company warns.

A total of 37 vehicles produced in 2023 are affected:

Mercedes-Benz Australia had previously issued a recall for 1983 vehicles across eight model lines in March 2024.
