FOXBORO – The Tufts Jumbos dominated Dickinson 25-8 on Sunday at Gillette Stadium to cap an unbeaten season with a second consecutive NCAA Division III National Championship.

Junior attackman Brooks Hauser led the Jumbos with four goals and three assists, a career high in points in a game.

Tufts’ goal outburst is the most ever scored in a championship game across all Divisions. It’s the third time a team has scored 20+ goals in a championship (1992 Nazareth, and ‘95 Salisbury with 22).

Tufts started the game somewhat slow. They controlled the ball for the first five minutes but generated only poor quality shot attempts. That changed quickly and the Jumbos led 8-0 by the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw Tufts add two more before Dickinson finally got on the board with two straight, but the comeback attempt did not last long as the Red Devils (17-6) trailed 14-3 at half.

Goal scorers for Tufts besides Hauser include Max Ettinhausen, Will Emsing, Charlie Tagliaferri, Jackson Redd, Jack Regnery, Garrett Kelly, Joey Kraft, Cam Delcristo, Joey Waldaum, Ben Frisoli, Callum Wood, and  Sam Frisoli. Goalie Conner Garzone recorded 10 saves on 16 shots, and backup Ben Friedman stopped three of the five shots he saw in his one quarter of work.

The Jumbos (23-0) are now back to back champions and this is their fifth title in school history.
