Shares of Zomato rose 0.32 per cent to ₹285.80 on the BSE at 11.04 am today.
According to an exchange filing, the company said the Joint Commissioner of CGST & Central Excise, Thane Commissionerate, Maharashtra had issued a demand notice for unpaid Goods and Services Tax (GST) amounting to ₹401.7 crore, along with interest and penalty.
Further, the tax authority had claimed that the company failed to pay GST on delivery charges for a specific period.
However, the company said it maintained its stance, asserting that it had a strong legal case and that it was prepared to contest the demand. The company has sought legal and tax opinions to support its position and plans to file an appeal against the order.
