D2C-focussed software solution provider ShopDeck has secured $8 Mn (around INR 67 Cr) in Series B funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners, along with participation from Elevation Capital, Chiratae Ventures and General Catalyst. 

With the fresh capital, the Bengaluru-based startup aims to ramp up hiring and invest in product offerings.

“We will hire a much higher quality team and invest in the product and, of course, (utilise funds) for new experiments,” ShopDeck cofounder Rishabh Verma told Inc42. 

ShopDeck was founded in 2022 by WMall’s founders Verma and Harmin Shah after the ecommerce marketplace’s shutdown. 

Verma said, “We wrapped up that business in 2022 and pivoted to this model (ShopDeck) from scratch.”

“We help merchants in not only setting up the storefront, but also optimising the storefront, and help them sell D2C profitably,” he added. 

The startup offers services like website development and customisation, catalogue management, and marketing and pricing strategy assistance to D2C brands.

It works with brands across sectors but predominantly in long tail categories, which are design categories such as fashion, apparel, jewelry, channel, merchandise, home and kitchen.

Verma said that 90% of the merchants it works with are selling their products for the first time. “ShopDeck has built 500 brands from scratch in some way to be able to sell via their website in the last two years,” he added. 

The startup has so far worked with brands including JerseyKart, Rizik, ichaa, AS Platinum and Fargo among others. 

On the financial front, ShopDeck’s parent company Blitzscale Technologies generated total revenue of INR 19.5 Cr in the financial year 2023 (FY 2022-23), making a 41.32% YoY jump.

The net loss posted by the company in FY23 was INR 9.2 Cr as per Tofler. The EBITDA reported was negative INR 11.8 Cr in the same fiscal. 

The startup competes with the likes of Shopify, Magento and WooCommerce in the e-commerce enablement space while Shiprocket and Shipway are its competitors in shipping and marketing segments.
