Great for a dead metal sound.
These tom heads sound and look great! All you need is a few gels to get ’em nice and dead and they work great for metal. They also have that amazing tone you simply can’t get with coated heads. However, they aren’t quite as durable. I’ve had mine on there for a year and a couple of the heads are starting to get little dents, so probably another year or 2 left before I have to replace them. Overall a great deal though, and they sound great.

Black chrome 8″
So bought this in an 8 size along with a clear g2 and a hydraulic to see which would be best. Threw it on my 7 piece maple kit and fell in love with the tone! A darker head with a very warm sound and a good amount of punch. Looks amazing also. Definitely getting the rest of the set and a good price. Would recommend for all styles.

Bang For Your Buck!
I purchased this product because I play heavy metal music, and the Evans Black Chrome head is what I was looking for. As far as sound and quality. It fit everything very well, including my drum kit and budget. These heads are a little expensive, but not this one…thanks to Amazon!

Black Chrome remains my favorite of the Evans line for metal/rock
I love the black chrome series from Evans because they give the drums a dark and deep tonal quality not rivaled by Remo. Plus, these heads are so easy to tune its ridiculous as you can easily get each lug freq exactly the same in a matter of minutes. I recently added a 13″ tom to my set up and could not be more pleased. I match the black chrome on batter with Evans EC reso heads and match the frequencies on both heads as close as possible which really brings out the tones/resonance on my Tama B/B shells. These head also take a beating and have great longevity.

If you’re looking to turn your cheap shells into great sounding toms, then these are the best heads you’ll find. They cut out almost all overtones and give you a beautiful and full sounding Tom.

Evans is making the best drumheads currently. In the 8 years I’ve been playing then, I’ve encountered one flawed head. Consistent quality, sound, and durability.I tune using a drum dial and have noticed a nearly perfect consistency to Evans heads. When changing heads, if I set the values the same, the drums WILL sound the same between old and new (except better because the head isn’t worn out).
