Quick-commerce platform Blinkit has launched a 10-minute ambulance service in select areas of Gurugram. The initiative, which began on Thursday, marks the company’s foray into life-saving services beyond its core offerings of groceries and essentials.
Blinkit Ambulances: All you need to know
Users can now access the ambulance service via the Blinkit app, where an option to call for emergency medical assistance has been integrated. According to the company, the ambulances are equipped with critical life-support systems, including oxygen cylinders, automated external defibrillators (AEDs), suction machines, monitors, stretchers, and emergency medicines. Additional provisions such as scoop stretchers and wheelchairs are also available. Each ambulance is staffed with a trained paramedic, a duty assistant, and a professional driver.
Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa, in a post on X, announced the rollout of the service, stating, “We are taking our first step towards solving the problem of providing quick and reliable ambulance service in our cities. The first five ambulances will be on the road in Gurugram starting today.”
Dhindsa further highlighted the company’s long-term vision, revealing the plan to expand this service to all major cities within the next two years. “Profit is not a goal here,” he added, noting that the service would be offered at an affordable cost to customers, with the primary focus on addressing a critical gap in emergency healthcare access. For now, five ambulances are operational in Gurugram, with plans to scale up the service in the near future.
