Hyundai has finally unveiled the much-anticipated Creta Electric, the EV version of its best-selling SUV, ahead of its official debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo later this month. The company has released a teaser video, revealing several details about the model’s design, powertrain specs, features and more. Here, let’s take a look at everything that we know so far.
Hyundai Creta EV: Design
As seen in the teaser video, the Creta Electric looks very similar to its ICE counterpart, featuring its signature connected LED DRLs, vertically stacked dual-pod headlights, and connected LED tail lights. However, it carries distinct EV styling cues, such as a closed-off grille and a charging port neatly integrated below the Hyundai logo. Completing the design are aero-optimized 17-inch alloy wheels. It also gets Active Air Flaps, designed to improve aerodynamic efficiency.
Hyundai Creta EV: Powertrain
In terms of powertrain, the Creta Electric offers two battery options: a 42 kWh battery delivering a range of 390 km and a larger 51.4 kWh battery extending that to 473 km. Both ranges are ARAI-certified. The EV will offer three power modes, namely Eco, Normal, and Sport. Moreover, the company says that the long-range variant can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds.
As for charging, the model gets an option of a DC fast charger capable of juicing the battery up from 10-80% in 58 minutes. For home charging, the 11 kW Wall Box charger can fully charge the battery from 10-100% in 4 hours.
Hyundai Creta EV: Interiors and cabin
The cabin of the Creta Electric looks similar to its ICE sibling save for a few changes. It features a dual-screen setup and a dual-tone interior theme. While the overall layout remains similar, there are subtle changes to reflect its EV identity. It gets a shift-by-wire system Hyundai’s Digital Key, allowing users to lock, unlock, and start the vehicle via their smartphone or smartwatch.
In terms of features, we can expect the SUV to come equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a driver’s display of a similar size, wireless phone charging, dual-zone climate control, 360-degree camera, and a panoramic sunroof. Additionally, the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability allows users to power external devices.
The Creta EV will be available in four trims: Executive, Smart, Premium, and Excellence and more details are expected soon. The model, once launched, will rival the likes of Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6, upcoming Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara among others.
